Ovila Terms of Service

Last updated 4 November 2026

About these terms

By creating an account or using Ovila, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

Ovila is a journal app for iPhone, made by Luís Filipe Aleixo Pinto da Silva ("we", "us"). Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data and is part of these terms.

You also agree to Apple's terms for apps from the App Store. If these terms and Apple's differ on how you got the app, Apple's terms apply to that part.

Your account

You need an account to use Ovila, created with Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google. Keep that Apple or Google account secure, because anyone who can use it can open your Ovila account.

Your memories are encrypted with a key kept in your iCloud Keychain. We never have that key, so we can't recover your memories if it's lost. You're responsible for keeping access to your iCloud Keychain. We recommend exporting your memories from Settings now and then.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Ovila.

Your memories

What you write in Ovila belongs to you. We claim no rights to it, and because it's encrypted on your iPhone, we can't read it.

We store your encrypted memories only to back them up and keep them in step across your devices.

Please use Ovila only for lawful, personal purposes. Don't try to break, overload, or get around its security, or access anyone else's account.

Subscriptions

Some features may need a paid subscription. Subscriptions are bought and billed through your Apple account. They renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.

You can manage or cancel a subscription in your iPhone's Settings under your Apple account. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. Prices are shown in the app before you buy.

The app as it is

We work to keep Ovila running and your memories safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. Ovila is provided "as is".

Ovila is a personal journal, not a medical or mental health service. If you're struggling, please reach out to a health professional or a local support line.

As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or unexpected losses, or for memories lost because your encryption key or account access was lost. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that can't be waived by law.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time in Settings > Delete Account. This permanently deletes your memories and can't be undone.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service or other people at risk. Where reasonable, we'll tell you first.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we'll update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we'll tell you in the app before it applies. Continuing to use Ovila after that means you accept the new terms.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal. If you're a consumer in the EU, you also keep the protection of the laws of the country where you live.
